Only Fools and Horses Set to Return to TV in 2025!

Oi oi! Fans of Only Fools and Horses are in for a right treat, as the BBC has confirmed that the legendary sitcom is making a grand return to our screens in 2025. After over two decades since the last official episode aired, Del Boy, Rodney, and the gang are dusting off their camel-hair coats and flat caps for one final jaunt in Peckham.

A Long-Awaited Comeback

The surprise announcement was made earlier this week, sending shockwaves of excitement through the show's dedicated fanbase. Sir David Jason, now 84, has confirmed his involvement, stepping back into the role of the lovable wheeler-dealer Del Boy Trotter. While Nicholas Lyndhurst (Rodney) had previously distanced himself from revisiting the show, insiders reveal that he has now agreed to return for what is being called “a perfect send-off.”

"It's been a long time coming," Jason said in a statement. "John Sullivan created something truly magical, and we want to honour his legacy with one last outing. This time next year, we'll be millionaires… or at least we'll have another classic episode for the fans!"

What’s the New Episode About?

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources close to the production have hinted that the special will revolve around Del Boy coming out of retirement for “one final deal.” With the rise of online selling platforms and cryptocurrency, Del is keen to prove that he can still wheel and deal in the modern world—much to the dismay of Rodney, who just wants a quiet life.

Trigger’s nephew (played by a yet-to-be-named rising star) is also set to make an appearance, carrying on his uncle’s legacy with some classic dim-witted moments. Meanwhile, Boycie and Marlene’s son, Tyler, is rumoured to be a tech entrepreneur, bringing new challenges to Del’s old-school methods.

Who Else is Returning?

Alongside Jason and Lyndhurst, several original cast members are expected to make cameo appearances. Sue Holderness (Marlene), Patrick Murray (Mickey Pearce), and Gwyneth Strong (Cassandra) are all reportedly involved. The special will also pay tribute to the late John Challis (Boycie) and Roger Lloyd-Pack (Trigger) with never-before-seen footage and references to their beloved characters.

A One-Off Special or the Start of More?

BBC executives have hinted that if the special is a success, more episodes could follow in a limited-run format. “We know how much the British public adore Only Fools and Horses,” said a BBC spokesperson. “We want to give the fans a fitting continuation, while staying true to the spirit of John Sullivan’s incredible writing.”

When Will It Air?

The new Only Fools and Horses special is set to premiere on Christmas Day 2025, marking the perfect festive treat for fans young and old. So, get ready to dust off your market stall banter, pour yourself a cocktail from the Nag’s Head, and prepare for the return of the Trotters. Lovely jubbly!
